It all started in Diane’s kitchen
In 1992, Diane Krulac was a software engineer and single mom perfecting her candy recipes for her daughter’s preschool bake sale. Now the owner of an award-winning destination candy boutique in Mechanicsburg, PA, Diane has never wavered in her commitment to making premium, memorable confections using the highest-quality ingredients available.
Passion for chocolate
Cocoa Creek Chocolates was born out of Diane’s ever-growing passion for chocolate. Already a skilled chocolatier, she began in 2015 to study the genetics of the cacao tree, international growing and processing methods, cultural and environmental influences, and the nuanced flavor variations that are part of chocolate’s rich heritage. What really excited her was not just solid chocolate, but the creamy ganache centers found in exquisite confectionary shops around the world. She loved the idea of pairing different chocolates (one for the ganache, another for the covering or shell) to create a “perfect storm” of flavor and texture. Her experimentation led to our unique truffles!
Every chocolate tells a story
We focus on small batch chocolates made with the finest ingredients, a flavor palette ranging from nostalgic to contemporary, a stylish visual appeal, and attention to the stories that the pieces convey. Every chocolate tells a story — through its cultural and geographical origins, its marriage of ingredients and flavors, and its resulting personality. We present our truffles in collections of pieces whose stories converge in interesting and fun ways, and share those stories with you through the Truffle Story Card that accompanies every box.
The fun factor
FUN is a big part of what motivates Diane and all of us at Cocoa Creek Chocolates. We firmly believe that “gourmet” doesn’t mean snobbish or inaccessible. Everyone can appreciate fine chocolate and connect with it on an emotional and sensory level. Just listen to the story the chocolate is telling!
At Cocoa Creek Chocolates, our story began with one woman’s love of chocolate, and that story is still unfolding. We are thrilled that you are joining us for the ride!
In our home region of central Pennsylvania, underground springs merge into creeks, which then feed our mighty Susquehanna River. Spring creeks often have as their sources aquifers or other underground water sources, making them exceptionally clean and pure. When we created Cocoa Creek Chocolates, we wanted to pay homage to these sparkling creeks which serve as a constant reminder of our connection to our natural environment, and to acknowledge our pledge to use pure, natural, clean ingredients wherever possible.
